School for Little People
Our goal is to help "little people" grow in a Christian atmosphere and experience Christian living on their own levels of understanding. This school is designed to create an environment which enables children to express their own creativity, and grow in the knowledge of who they are in relationship to God, family, and others. School for Little People is a non-denominational Pre-school sponsored by Lake Jackson First United Methodist Church. Many denominations are represented because all are welcome here.
Daily Program:
Our curriculum guide is Scripture Bites compiled by Coley Fisher and Karen Fields, and is adjusted to fit age levels. The curriculum consists of monthly themes with weekly subtopics. We provide an environment which encourages the children to:
- Ask Questions
- Explore and experiment
- Help develop a new security and independence
- Make friends and learn to get along with other children and adults
- Find that he/she is a person to be valued for his/her own uniqueness in being a child of God.
The children select many of their own activities from a variety of learning areas which include, but are not limited to: art, blocks, dramatic play, math, books, puzzles, body rhythmic's, story time, and science.
Each day the children also have recreation play, a snack, body rhythmic's and occasionally the children will participate in cooking experiences.
Stay & Play
Stay & Play is an added feature to our preschool program five days each week and is offered to all ages. The fee is $7.00 per day. Children will provide their own lunch.
Stay & Play days are Monday through Friday.
Drop off/Pick up:
Beginning at 8:40 parents may bring children to the teacher in their classrooms. Pick-up will be at11:45. All classes will dismiss with a hallway conference (information about the day) then the children will be released one at a time.
Body Rhythmics:
The daily Body Rhythmics program is designed to develop fine and gross motor coordination, as well as to instill in the child an awareness and appreciation of his/her body. It consists of finger plays, nursery rhymes, singing, group action and musical awareness.
